To every papa’s girl, every daughter who found her strength in her father’s love.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have the best Dad in the entire world. I genuinely wish every kid could experience the love and support of a dad like mine.
I’ve always been my papa’s girl and still am. There’s a story my family loves to tell: before I was born, my dad wanted a boy. In a traditional Indian family, a boy often represents the future support for the man of the house — and I was his last hope. I never believed it. My dad loves me dearly, and I love him just as much.

My papa is the most positive person in my life. He has always been a beacon of hope and light, even during my darkest days. His strength helped me push through the toughest times. Many times I felt disappointed in myself — thinking I couldn’t live up to his expectations. I made poor choices that caused pain and had lasting effects on our lives.
Yet he always stood by me — holding my hand, showing me there’s always another choice, another possibility to explore.
He believed in me. And I achieved so much in my life because of him.
Society often sets a low bar for what it means to be a good dad. A friend who is an exceptional father once pointed out: when we see a dad taking his kids to the park, on a field trip, to school activities — we say, “Oh wow, he’s such a great dad.” My friend asked, “Why? As a dad, that’s my responsibility and simple pleasure. No one says that to a mom.”
I realized I was guilty of this thinking too. We hold great dads to a standard that should simply be called: showing up.
